On Page SEO – How we composed 14 blog posts which became top 20 most trafficked pages

On Page SEO – Businesses write blog posts to generate traffic, shares, likes, etc.  Now, traffic to your website and social amplification are important SEO factors, but we at Digital Sales have a different, more concerned and sales focused approach to On Page SEO and blog posts.  We believe that the most productive way to generate sales is to compose SEO Keyword Focused Blog Posts rather than Blog Posts for sharing and amplification.  It may take some time, but it will work in the long run.

But first, if you are interested in our services at Digital Sales, check out this quick video:

We hear marketing executives say things like, ‘but we got xxx shares, this many likes, followers, traffic….’ but how many direct sales?  Optimise your pages correctly and you will attract high value sales traffic, that will have a higher rate of close.

The reality is, no sales, no business.  We once had a client with a low budget and the company required revenue quickly.  Within a couple of month from the website launch, the company was position 3 for the search string: Boiler Repair Dublin.  The client wanted local clients in Dublin, boiler repair and servicing sales leads.  Simple speaking, they wanted sales and as fast as possible.  Having listened to the client needs and their services, we undertook keyword analyses and we bought a domain name www.BoilerRepairDublin.com – the clients investment was paid back handsomely!!

On Page SEO Tip One: The URL Composition – focus the domain name you purchase on the keyword research, it will help for quick results.  In this past the url composition held higher importance than it does today, but it’s still very relevant and will rank quicker if the keywords are within the domain name.

And this month on the website, www.BoilerRepairDublin.com, we will be uploaded keyword density on the homepage, which we believe (in time) will take the client to position one for the assigned keyword for the website homepage.  But there are no guarantees, of course!

Making the site https would also be a help and uploading an .xml sitemap will also help, see an example of an xml sitemap page: http://www.boilerrepairdublin.com/sitemap.xml.

Why is the investment in On Page SEO worthwhile?

A company can buy a listing with an online directory, which will expire in 3 months if you fail to renew the subscription.  But with an SEO’ed blog page, that page will stay online forever, it’s a long-term investment (unless the search engines change their algorithm significantly, which could happen!).  It’s worth investing in On Page SEO blog posts, it will pay off, and our client www.BMStairlifts.ie are reaping the benefits……in fact 14 of their top 20 trafficked pages were written by the Digital Sales team – and they were focused on On Page SEO, principles which should be applied to any page within the architecture of a website.

On Page SEO Tips

Before we get to the tips, you MUST undertake keyword analyses, what are people searching.  And if you have two pages on your site, both targeting the same search string, this is a BIG NO NO.  Google will get confused and drop both!  And you are wasting resources.  So, change one page to another keyword if you have already made this error.

  • The Page url – get the keyword into the url extension
  • Include the Keyword in the page title and make sure the page title is around 70 characters
  • Include the Keyword in the Meta Description
  • Make sure the Keyword Density or frequency is between 3 and 7% (you can check it here!)
  • Make sure the article or page has 300 or more words
  • Make the H1 (The blog post Title) include the keyword and if possible include it at the front of the Title
  • Include if possible a H2, H3, H4, H5 and H6 and include the keyword in each heading
  • Include the keyword at the start of the first paragraph and repeat it a good few times in the first paragraph
  • Make an image on the page, alt tag: your keyword
  • Make the keyword throughout the article ‘italics’
  • Have external and internal links within the page
  • Include a strong call to action within the blog post and make sure there is strong call to action within the architecture of the site

Undertake any Black Hat SEO activities

On Page SEO – Final Tip

If you really want to quickly optimise the page for a particular keyword or page, get backlinks to the page from respected websites and industry specific websites and blogs.  If you use WordPress download the plugin, SEO Yoast, it will act as a good guide.

And finally, don’t just populate your blog with SEO specific pages, mix it up and include generic blog posts.
