Flatsome Support from Digital Sales. A couple of months ago we received an enquiry for help…the company was Eco Plant, and their website at the time was www.EcoPlant.ie

I know what you are thinking, an Eco-Friendly Horticultural business…close! The company is a highly respected and well established eco plant hire company, specialising in electric and battery powered machinery! And that was their first problem. Perception.
Their company domain name didn’t match what they do, and if you did a search on social media, for example on Facebook, Eco Plant was nowhere to be found and was in competition and coupled with ‘plant’ type search results.
So, its very important to streamline your brand toward your core business, and then select the right domain name and logo. So, we took a copy of the site and moved it to a new domain name www.EcoPlantHire.ie – and slightly changing the logo in the process.
This strategic change was the easy part, the inherent problems with template websites and in particular this Flatsome theme were about to show face!
This is where the fun really started and one of the primary reasons we avoid cheap template websites like a Faltsome WordPress Website.
The primary advantage of a CMS’s like WordPress is the ‘ease of update’, however, the Flatsome template is as easy as a 147 in snooker!!
Making a slight change can impact other products and moving the menus required an awful lot of code manipulation. This is the problem when so called website design companies or professionals buy a template, it looks well on the exterior but over time making changes becomes extremely difficult and the client gets annoyed and will eventually look at alternative website developers.
Business owners start to blame their developer/s, but the developer isn’t a coder, so, they can’t fix what they don’t understand or have the body of knowledge to resolve issues.
And then there were the updates!! Make sure you backup your website and databases prior to ANY updates, especially with the Flatsome theme. Plugins and WordPress aren’t so bad, but take a chance with a Flatsome theme update and expect trouble…
If you are using a Flatsome website theme, you should consider starting afresh, yes a brand new custom built website.
